Project Overview

SHINE Study: The Research on the Scale-up of the Hormonal Intra-Uterine Device in New and Emerging Markets. The goal of this study is to document the rollout of the hormonal IUD in Malawi’s public sector to inform future scale-up efforts. Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation through FHI 360.

Development and Testing of Counselling Messages for DMPA-SC Self-Injection in Southern Malawi.

Funded by Children Investment Fund (CIFF) through FHI 360.

Tripartite collaborative agreement between Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI) Foundation, Malawi Ministry of Health and CHAD to support an initial round of mass drug administration for Schistosomiasis in three districts of Malawi.

MORBID: Morbidity Operational Research for Bilharziasis Implementation Decisions Pilot project in Malawi.

Funded by the Task Force for Global Health and implemented in collaboration amongst the Malawi Ministry of Health, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), SCI Foundation and CHAD.

Project Overview

MORBID: Morbidity Operational Research for Bilharziasis Implementation Decisions (Female Genital Schistosomiasis sub-study) in Malawi.

Funded by the Task Force for Global Health and implemented in collaboration amongst the Malawi Ministry of Health, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), SCI Foundation and CHAD. 

 

Project Period: August 2020 to March 2021

Project Overview

Utility of screening easy to access population subgroups as a surveillance tool in monitoring interruption of LF transmission in the post-elimination phase.

Funded by the Task Force for Global Health and implemented in collaboration amongst the Malawi Ministry ofHealth, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and CHAD.

 

Project Period: 31st January 2020 to 30th September 2020

Project Overview

Support for operational research activities of the Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Programme including enhanced care protocol for lymphoedema patients and conducting the morbidity hotspot strategy as a novel surveillance method. This is done in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Malawi, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and CHAD.

Expanding Cervical Cancer Screening and Preventive Therapy through introducing New Technologies and Integrating with Voluntary Family Planning.

Funded by USAID under PEER Grant scheme with CHAD being sub-contracted by the University of North Carolina

Moving Towards Sustainability: Strengthening Rural Health Facilities, Upskilling Providers and Developing Mentoring Capacity to Support Roll-Out of Cervical Cancer ‘Screen and Treat Services Across Malawi’.

Funded by the Scottish government through the University of Edinburgh. 

Project Period: 1st October 2018 to 31st March 2023

Project Overview

Rapid needs assessment of evidence for decision-making and the presentation of local perspectives related to schistosomiasis, soil- transmitted helminths, and the COVID- 19 pandemics. Funded by Research England through the London School of Economics.
